Kate Darmody is an Australian children’s author, teacher and mum to triplets.

Before becoming a teacher, Kate worked as a journalist, but storytelling has remained a constant throughout her career. After teaching across both primary and secondary schools, she has seen firsthand the power books can have in helping children understand themselves, other people and the world around them.

Her stories explore childhood with warmth, humour and honesty, particularly the moments when children feel different, overwhelmed, brave, uncertain or simply need reminding that they belong.

Kate is the author of Letters in the Puddle, Lachlan and Edith and Edna.

When she isn’t teaching or writing, Kate is usually spending time with her family, travelling, attempting to garden, or making jokes she finds significantly funnier than her children and students do.

Kate lives in Brisbane, Australia.
